History of Computing Studies Teachers Association
The Computing Studies Teachers’ Association (CSTA) is a non-profit professional organisation designed to support the teachers of Computing Studies in New South Wales at both junior and senior levels.
This is done through training and development plus the promotion of quality teaching and learning strategies to enhance effective implementation of the curriculum. All the work involved in running this association and its support activities is done by volunteers who are currently teaching in NSW schools. It relies heavily on the expertise of its members to provide the professional development activities and resources teachers need.
The main thrust of the organisation is to provide resources, professional development and a network of collegial support
CSTA Inc was established in 1995 replacing and including the Metropolitan East Computing Studies Teachers Association (MECSTA). MECSTA was formed in 1989 through the urgent need for classroom teacher support in Years 7 - 12 Computing Studies. In 1995 the name changed to reflect that the membership had extended far beyond Metropolitan East Region to include members from all parts of New South Wales. The intention and purpose of the Association remained the same.
